Farming Simulator 18

Giants Software have announced the release of farming Simulator 18 for mobile devices on June 6th 2017.

For all Farming Simulator fans version 18 is the first mobile released since FS17 hit our screens in October of last year.

For those who want farming on the go Farming Simulator 18 could be the answer, but if you are thinking that it is going to replace FS17, that will never be the case. But if you want your farming fix while on the train, until you can get to play the real thing on your computer, then this could be for you. This version, like all other mobile versions of Farming Simulator, will be a completely different game. The basics are the same, you plow your fields, sow your crops and do your harvests. Version 16 had what could be loosely called missions, where a local farmer would ask you to pick up a trailer of grain from 1 location and deliver it to another location, but nothing to exciting.

So what can we expect in this new mobile version? Well the following is quoted on Giants website:

Become a modern farmer in Farming Simulator 18! Immerse yourself in a huge open world and harvest many types of crops, take care of your livestock – cows, sheep, and pigs – take part in forestry, and sell your products on a dynamic market to expand your farm!

You have access to a huge selection of over 50 farming vehicles and machines, faithfully recreated from over 30 of the biggest names in the industry, including AGCO’s most respected brands: Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra. Drive and use brand new equipment and harvest sugar beet, potatoes, wheat, canola, corn, and for the first time sunflowers.

  • New 3D graphics show even more detail on your machinery and the southern US environment
  • Drive over 50 realistic vehicles and machines from some of the biggest agriculture machine makers
  • Feed your cows and sheep to produce and sell milk and wool or breed pigs and sell them for profit
  • New front loader attachments expand your options when transporting bales or wood
  • Plant and harvest six different crops: Wheat, canola, corn, sugar beet, potatoes and for the first time sunflower
  • Play with friends in local multiplayer mode for WiFi

It’s nice to see that they have added sunflower, but just adding new crops will not make the game any better if it is anything like 16. I was all excited when i heard that 16 was released because i had recently stated playing FS15 ( remember that ) and loved it from day one, in fact my PC was on for 3 days straight. 16 though  was in my eyes a bit of a bust. I lost interest in it fairly quickly. But, considering the changes in 17 from 15 we could all be very surprised, but remember, it is still a mobile version.

The Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita versions will retail at EUR 29.99

Final thought: Will i buy this game? Most likely, yes. Will i play it? Well, obviously i will play at least once, but for it to hold my attention for more than a few plays it will have to be something special. But saying that, the game has not been released yet so nobody know. Maybe Giants will surprise everyone like they did with FS17.

Until next time Happy Gaming

Brummie Farmer.
